bio

Kat Alyst (b. Lufkin, TX) creates work that merges vibrant surrealism with deeply personal narratives, often exploring themes of identity, mental health, and transformation. Kat earned a degree in photography and graphic design, laying the foundation for a multidisciplinary approach that incorporates set design, self-portraiture, and bold color palettes to craft immersive visual experiences.

Her ongoing self-portrait series, "somebody is trying to tell you something," delves into personal mental health stories, inviting viewers into intimate reflections on resilience and vulnerability. Kat is also developing new body of works exploring the roles she’s embodied to survive as female in America, and the blurred lines between survival and selfhood.

Kat’s work has been exhibited in numerous galleries and featured in publications that highlight her ability to blend the fantastical with raw emotion. Known for using photography to tackle taboo topics, she combines conceptual set design with bold, expressive imagery to engage audiences in fleeting moments of connection and reflection.

Alyst is currently preparing for a series of exhibitions and projects that further explore the intersections of identity, survival, and transformation, pushing the boundaries of contemporary photography, by use of fire in each works.

Commercial clients include collaborations with independent brands and agencies seeking innovative, visually compelling narratives. Publications include: Galore, Vogue Italia, Shockboxx Gallery, 1883 Magazine, Vulkan, Gezno, Moevir, Institute Magazine, Gmaro, Art Week and more.
